UAB GCL Honors Program Lecture Series to Present Anthropologist Sharyn Jones Nov. 6

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Global and Community Leadership (GCL) Honors Program will present a lecture by UAB anthropologist Sharyn Jones, Ph.D., "Ethnoarchaeology as a Research Methodology for Understanding Communities and Their Culture," from 11 to11:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Heritage Hall, Room 106, 1401 University Blvd. The event is free and open to the public. Jones studies marine resource exploitation and ethnoarchaeology. She has conducted research in Fiji, Micronesia, Polynesia, Japan and the Caribbean. Her new book, Food and Gender in Fiji: Ethnoarchaeological Explorations, was published in August. She is an assistant professor in the UAB Department of History and Anthropology.
